Background
Lipsker & Co. was founded in 1962 in Tel Aviv by Yitzchak Lipsker after he had worked for 10 years at TAHAL – the Israel Water Resources Development Company. In the mid 1980’s, his son Yoram joined the Company’s management team.
Initially, the Company focused on test borings and the execution of pilings for retaining walls and foundations, but soon began expanding its areas of expertise to include anchoring, tunneling, underpining, slope stabilization and more…
During its 50 years of wide ranging activities in Israel and abroad (Iran, Nigeria, Cyprus and Angola), the Company has executed thousands of different types of piles used for foundations, retaining walls and underpining, along with thousands of meters of drilling in all types of soil and rock conditions, including in very complex conditions in terms of both access and geology.
Lipsker & Co. was the first Israeli company to execute soil anchors (beginning in 1964) and since then, the Company has executed tens of thousands of temporary and permanent soil anchors throughout the country.
In 1998, Lipsker & Co. received the Construction Excellence Prize, awarded by the Israel Contractors and Builders Association for the work done to underpin the Masada cable car project (http://www.lipsker.co.il/). The complex Masada project was on an international scale and Lipsker executed the underpining from the top of the Masada cliffs, which required the installation of permanent, 150 ton working load anchors at great heights. It was the first time that an Israeli engineering company had ever executed anchors with such large working loads.
Lipsker & Co. specializes in the execution of all types of tunneling work using NATM (the New Austrian Tunneling Method) and was the first company in Israel to execute tunneling work in soft soils, including tunneling for a wide range of uses: Roads, railway lines, service tunnels, etc. Highly successful Lipsker tunneling work includes the Elite tunnel in Ramat Gan; the Shappirim tunnel near Ben Gurion Airport; the Eshkol tunnel in Jerusalem; the Anava tunnel in Modi’in, the Hadassah tunnel in Jerusalem and much more…
The Company’s innovations include the development of unique methods for the improvement of foundation bearing capacity where access is problematic and retaining systems with minimal thickness to allow work to be carried out inside and close to buildings in dense urban environments. The methods and systems developed by the Company provide significant advantages in the implementation of TAMA 38, which is Israel’s National Outline Plan for the reinforcement of buildings against earthquakes, because they make it possible to maximize the use of very valuable land.
Sale of Geotechnical Products
Along with the establishment of the Company’s status as Israel’s leading contractor in the field of special geotechnical work, Lipsker established a subsidiary company for the marketing and sale of geotechnical and tunneling equipment, some of which are manufactured in house, with other products sourced from leading foreign manufacturers represented by Lipsker in Israel.
Lipsker’s in house manufacturing plant uses computerized, automated systems and it is the only one of its kind in the entire Middle East. Currently, the manufacturing plant is an industrial scale producer of anchors compliant with the most stringent standards and exacting specifications, which includes the Israeli Standard for permanent anchors, published in January 2011. The Standard was determined by a special Standards Committee and Yitzchak Lipsker is proud to have been a member of that committee.

To maintain a technological advantage, ever since it was first founded the Company has consistently invested very considerable resources in the development of special equipment, unique working methods, and the purchase of the latest technologies from abroad (Switzerland and Germany).

The Human and Logistical Advantage

The Company’s engineering team plans the execution of the work, coordinates, and constructs the tailor made equipment required by each project before it begins.
Each project is preceded by planning and preparation work at the Company’s plant at Kadima, which includes readying existing equipment, along with the integration and construction of the special equipment designated for the project. The Kadima plant includes the engineering planning center, a technical warehouse, fabrication shop, milling and turning shop, a computerized automated plant for the manufacture of anchors and the marketing and sales center for geotechnical products.
Each project site is managed by highly experienced engineers and site managers, some with over 20 years at the Company, with full support for project execution from Lipsker’s logistics center.
